St Helens man one of three Super League wingers to make loan moves

St Helens have confirmed that one of their wingers has left the club on loan with a further two Super League wingers also making loan moves.

Saints have announced that Tee Ritson has returned to his former club Barrow Raiders on an initial two-week loan with the 29-year-old yet to make a competitive appearance for St Helens this season.

Even with the injury to Lewis Murphy, Ritson has been unable to work his way into Paul Wellens’ squad so he now heads back to Cumbria to re-join his former club Barrow.

Whilst at Barrow, Ritson scored 70 tries in 73 matches and the Raiders are hopeful that the speedster could play this weekend in the 1895 Cup against Goole Vikings.

The Vikings are one of the other teams who have loaned in a Super League winger with the League One outfit bringing in Neil Tchamambe on a season-long loan.

It is somewhat unclear how that move has happened because Tchamambe was loaned to Wakefield Trinity from Hull KR and the Vikings have now announced they’ve loaned the winger in from Wakefield, however, due to Tchamambe’s off-contract nature at Hull KR it is possible that they cut him to allow him to be Wakefield’s own player.

As such, Wakefield would be able to loan the England Academy international out as they please and that’s seen him head to League One to work under Scott Taylor.

Taylor was keen to help develop the 20-year-old, stating: “We’ll be working closely with Wakefield to monitor his development and give him some invaluable exposure to first team football.”

The third and final Super League winger to be loaned out is a Hull KR player with Harvey Horne heading to Doncaster on a two-week loan with the 19-year-old set to feature against Sheffield Eagles on Sunday.

Horne will link up with his uncle, Richard Horne, who is the head coach at Doncaster with the head coach noting that when speaking on the signing.

Richard Horne said: “We’re in a situation where we need options at short notice and it’s been a case of looking at who is out there and available. Hull FC have got quite a lot of injuries in their backs so they can’t make anyone available on dual reg right now.

“Harvey is obviously someone I know well, with him being my nephew. I know he’s been training full time with the first team at Rovers so he’s in great condition and looking for an opportunity. This is a great chance for him to play at Championship level and take that next step in his development.”
