St Helens legend identifies Hull FC star Jake Connor’s biggest weakness

Jake Connor is an absolute maverick – everyone knows that.

He can turn a game on its head within an instant and do the flashy, skilful things that everyone sees.

But, St Helens legend Paul Sculthorpe believes that Connor can do a lot more.

In the Sky Sports preview of Hull FC’s away fixture at Hull KR back in the Easter Hull derby, Sculthorpe called on the Black and Whites talent to help more on the field.

“We all know Jake Connor can do the shiny things – he is an outstandingly talented player, but he needs to do more of it,” Sculthorpe said.

“He needs to do the unsung things – the push up with the forwards and defensively he needs to be better.”

Since then, Hull have gone on an impressive run with Connor at the forefront of that, with the fullback at the top of the list for try assists – an achievement that he has held since round one.

Hull travel to St Helens tonight knowing their opponents will be vulnerable following their exit from the Challenge Cup, whilst the Black and Whites were able to have a week off to rest and recuperate.
