St Helens head coach Kristian Woolf gives latest on Alex Walmsley and Morgan Knowles

St Helens head coach Kristian Woolf has given the latest on Alex Walmsley and Morgan Knowles – as well as two other stars.

Walmsley and Knowles – along with Matty Lees and Will Hopoate – missed the weekend’s victory over Whitehaven, but Woolf believes both have a great chance of returning this weekend against Leeds Rhinos.

“We should have Al back but that is not completely finalised, he has a bit to get through this week,” Woolf told Saints TV.

“Like all players, particularly of his importance, if there is any risk we won’t take it, if he is 100 per cent he will play.

“Morgan Knowles is in the same boat and is more than likely, but it is there same scenario with regards to risk.

“At this stage Matty Lees and Will Hopoate are both 50/50 and we will see how they progress.”

Woolf was also asked about playing Leeds – a side who has now lost six of their last seven matches.

“Obviously they’re not sitting where they’d like to be sitting,” he continued.

“I think if you ask most people including myself where we thought they’d finish before the start of the year, most would have said they’re a top-four side, when you look at their roster.”
