St Helens have announced a second dual registration agreement heading into the 2025 Super League agreement. The Saints confirmed they will be partnering with Championship club Halifax Panthers earlier this week.

The Panthers, who are coached by former St Helens player Kyle Eastmond will be able to take on fringe players from the Totally Wicked Stadium to help them through their campaign in the second tier. Halifax players will be given the opportunity to feature for Saints‘ reserve side, too.

However, the Super League outfit have announced they will also be continuing their long-standing partnership with Swinton Lions, with the two clubs working together since 2023. The Greater Manchester club were relegated from the Championship last season and that allow them to be Saints’ affiliated club in League One.

The likes of George Delaney, Will Roberts and Jake Burns have all benefitted from spending time at Heywood Road over the last couple of seasons and the two sides are keen to work alongside each other once more this time around.

“We’re very pleased to continue our partnership with Swinton Lions into the 2025 season,” Wellens said. “We know just how important match minutes for our young players is at a competitive level, and the feedback we had from our players when they have been with Swinton has only ever been positive.

“Our partnership with Swinton I’m sure will continue to grow, as our players get the chance to compete in League One, and they will represent our club and the Lions well when they feature for Paul Wood’s team who we of course wish all the best for the upcoming year ahead.”

Swinton Lions’ CEO, Steve Wild added: “On behalf of Swinton Lions I’m delighted that we’ve agreed a continuation of our dual registration agreement with Saints. The arrangement has of course proved to be a valuable player resource for Swinton, but more importantly, it represents an invaluable development opportunity for the players involved.

“We’ve developed a great relationship with St Helens, to whom we extend our best wishes for a successful 2025.”
