St Helens confirm friendly against “historic club” to celebrate star player and prepare for Penrith Panthers

Super League Champions St Helens will host Widnes Vikings on Friday 27th January 2023 (kick off 8pm) at the Totally Wicked Stadium in Mark Percival’s Testimonial fixture.

Percival, who has made 199 competitive appearances for the Saints, has been awarded a Testimonial year in 2023 and details of his Testimonial fixture can now be confirmed.

The star centre was born in Widnes and he will now get the chance to take them on in a pre-season trial game at the Totally Wicked Stadium on Friday 27th January (8pm) ahead of the new 2023 Betfred Super League title defending, campaign.

It’s a chance to see the Champions in action as we prepare for the World Club Challenge against Penrith Panthers just a few weeks later.

On the fixture, Percival said: “I am delighted to now announce my Testimonial fixture against Widnes and it will be the only home game we have until March!

“I was born in Widnes so this is a fitting opponent for me and it will be a great opportunity for the fans to watch us prepare for our huge World Club Challenge in Australia a few weeks later.

“Widnes are a historic Club and one of our local rivals so it is set to be a tough and entertaining clash.”

The game will also see Saints come against a four time Super League Champion with the club in the shape of former Warrington Wolves loanee Kyle Amor who has joined Widnes for 2023.
