St Helens boss Kristian Woolf reveals bad news on Alex Walmsley as the latest on Will Hopoate, Mark Percival and Sione Mata’utia revealed

Eight senior St Helens players will return to Kristian Woolf’s squad for the final game of the regular Super League season, however, four other senior members of the squad will be absent.

Jack Welsby, Jonny Lomax, captain James Roby, Matty Lees, Joe Batchelor and Konrad Hurrell all return. Morgan Knowles and Curtis Sironen are also free to play after serving their suspensions.

Josh Simm, Sam Royle, Lewis Baxter, Taylor Pemberton, McKenzie Buckley, Ellis Archer and Jake Burns drop out.

However, Alex Walmsley misses out after he left the field early with a foot injury against Wigan, whilst Will Hopoate, Mark Percival and Sione Mata’utia are not risked.

After a tough derby battle last week and with less than three days turnaround into Bank Holiday Monday’s game, the boss opted to shuffle is pack due to a mix of suspensions and injuries with a number of youngsters debuting.

But with momentum heading into the Playoff semi-final key and a week off on the horizon as a reward for finishing top, Woolf has re-called a number of experienced heads.

Keane Gilford and Ben Lane debuted in the defeat to Wakefield and they keep their place in the squad, as do the impressive Dan Moss and George Delaney.
