South Sydney Rabbitohs prop Tom Burgess linked with sensational move ahead of Wests Tigers clash

Tom Burgess is in a surprise move for the South Sydney Rabbitohs ahead of their clash with the Wests Tigers this weekend.

With Mark Nicholls still out injured with a syndesmosis injury, Burgess was expected to be Souths’ frontman for the remainder of his injury time, however, Hame Sele will take over this week.

The England international is closing in on his 200th NRL appearance with just six to go, but made just 89 metres against the Canterbury Bulldogs at the weekend following an impressive first game the week before.

Despite having 19 months left on his current contract, Burgess has also been offered to rival clubs.

Burgess’ management has been offering his services to other clubs, according to theĀ Daily Telegraph, with several Sydney clubs apparently hunting the hulking England international.

The prop has a contract with Souths until the end of 2023, but it remains to be seen whether the club will want to re-sign Burgess beyond that considering the likes of Cam Murray, Davey Moale, Keaon Koloamatangi, Jai Arrow and Tevita Tatola are on-contract.

Burgess has registered almost 200 appearances for Souths, but the 29-year-old looks like he may well end his decade-long stay at the Sydney club.

The Dewsbury-born forward made the move to the Rabbitohs back in 2013 after registering almost 50 appearances for the Bradford Bulls in the UK Super League.

At the time, little was known about Tom and his twin George, as well as older brother Sam, but the Burgess brothers have become the most famous band of brothers ever in rugby league.
