South Sydney Rabbitohs are ready to finally plug the hole left by Dane Gagai.
The centre departed Souths at the end of the 2021 NRL season for his former side Newcastle Knights, but the Rabbitohs didn’t seem to replace him.
Neither Jaxson Paulo nor Campbell Graham excelled in their opening game of the 2022 season, so Souths are eyeing up a deal for ex-Melbourne Storm flyer Suliasi Vunivalu.
“The right wing is a problem, they are okay on the left with Alex Johnston but what I can tell you is during the off-season Vunivalu who won the premierships at Melbourne Storm, then went to Rugby Union, playing for the Queensland Reds,” the Daily Telegraph’s Rothfield said on NRL 360.
“Behind the scenes they tried desperately hard to get him into a Souths jersey, they couldn’t come up with the money at the end of the day.
“On the left centre I think that’s a problem too, with Jaxson Paulo.”
The Rabbitohs succumbed to opening day defeat against Brisbane Broncos, 11-4.
