Shay Martyn – son of St Helens great Tommy – has signed an Academy contract at the Totally Wicked Stadium, report the St Helens Reporter.
His dad spent 10 years with Saints, picking up Super League, Challenge Cup and World Club Challenge honours along the way.
Shay will now look to follow in is dad’s footsteps after earning a part-time deal and a place on the Academy tour to Australia.
He has played with Thatto Heath and is considered by the club as a dangerous outside back who possesses great speed and footwork.
He is part of the latest crop of youngsters to pen Academy deals with the club, joining Reece Sumner, John Bennison, Taylor Pemberton, and Ethan Bradbury in Saints’ youth ranks.
