WATCH: Son of Rob Burrow CBE scores try in annual 745 game as rugby league topples union again

On Sunday, the annual ‘745 Game’ between legends of rugby league and rugby union was held, and for the third year running, it was the league lads who took home the trophy.

The charity game, which is a mixture of rules from both codes, took place for its third year, having started as a mere concept between the late, great Rob Burrow CBE and former union player Ed Slater.

Both men were diagnosed with Motor Neurone Disease, and have been huge campaigners for raising both awareness and funds for what is a horrible disease.

The event took place at Leicester’s Mattioli Woods and formed part of a double-header alongside Leicester Tigers’ Gallagher Premiership match against Saracens. The game was broadcast live on TNT Sports, with Sky Sports regular Barrie McDermott joining the commentary team.

League legends such as Danny McGuire, Ryan Atkins, Lee Radford and Gareth Ellis all pulled the boots back on and came home with the bragging rights after a 48-31 victory over their union counterparts.

The Union side included players such as Joe Marler, Ben Youngs and Billy Twelvetrees, whilst Ben Weir, son of former Scotland international and MND trailblazer Doddie Weir, also took part.

However, the most emotional and iconic part of the event came towards the end of the game, when Jackson Burrow, son of Rob, took to the field and scored an incredible long-range try, one his dad would have been proud of!

You can see the try below, in what was a heartwarming moment for everyone in attendance and for those who watched at home.
