Son of former Leeds Rhinos man future up in the air as he holds off talks

Today is November 1st which in Australia isn’t as simple as the first day after Halloween.
No, today is the day clubs can begin to negotiate and agree terms with players entering the final year of their current deals.
The likes of Jackson Hastings, Victor Radley, and Herbie Farnworth have all become available to negotiate with as of today as have NRL stars like Mitchell Moses, Latrell Mitchell and Cody Walker.
One of the NRL’s brightest young stars also doesn’t have a deal for 2024 and beyond. That young man is Sam Walker.
Born in Leeds, Walker is the son of former Leeds Rhinos Ben Walker so would be eligible for England though no steps have been taken to attract his services during the Rugby League World Cup which may have been a mistake seen as though the exciting young halfback could very well be an Australian number seven in the years to come.
Likewise the temptation to play in the country he was born in could also see him make the move to Super League one day and based off recent developments with Lachlan Lam, there may even be a way to get him off the overseas quota.
However, a Super League move at this stage of his career is very unlikely with the Daily Telegraph reporting that rival NRL clubs are circling the Leeds-born scrum half.
Crucially for the Roosters, Walker has held off talks with any rival clubs leaving the tri-colours in pole position to retain the halfback but with no deal yet agreed his future is still unsure.
