Son of former Leeds Rhinos halfback secures future

There’s a lot of high profile recruitment stories down under at present and many involve Englishmen.
For instance, yesterday Newcastle Knights confirmed the double coup of Huddersfield Giants’ Will Pryce and Wigan Warriors’ Kai Pearce-Paul on two year deals beginning in 2024.
Meanwhile, the Wests Tigers continue to pursue Wigan’s John Bateman according to reported and recently there were rumours linking Warrington Wolves halfback George Williams with a return to the NRL.
Another story centred around a player born in England, namely Leeds, in the shape of Sam Walker.
The halfback was born in Leeds during the period his father Ben Walker played for the Leeds Rhinos.
Though Ben didn’t have the best Leeds career, his time at Headingley was no doubt special as it came alongside the birth of his son.
Sam is one of the highest rated young halfbacks around at present and has recently been tipped to be the Roosters’ halfback for the next decade.
He was entering the final year of his current deal however leaving a cloud over his future as it allows rival clubs to negotiate with him.
However, he has committed to the Roosters.
The tri-colours have secured Walker to a contract that keeps him at the club at least until the end of the 2025 season in a smart piece of business by the club.
