Son of ex-Huddersfield Giants boss Simon Woolford linked with transfer

The son of former Huddersfield Giants head coach Simon Woolford is being linked with a huge transfer move.

Woolford, who coached the Giants between 2018 and 2020, has seen the meteoric rise of his son, Zac, with the Canberra Raiders play out in sensational fashion.

Hooker Zac was thought unlikely to burst onto the scene with the Green Machine in 2022 given Josh Hodgson and Tom Starling sat in front of him.

However, with Hodgson’s devastating injury and Ricky Stuart’s search for vibrancy and youth, Woolford has been given a chance.

And, according to reports from Wide World of Sports, Woolford is attracting the attention of rivals as he impresses in the middle of the field with 71 tackles and just one missed tackle in three games.

His father, of course, is a Canberra legend having played almost 250 games for the Green Machine in a 13-year period.

In April 2018 Woolford was announced as the head coach of Huddersfield, taking over form Chris Thorman, who had been in charge on an interim basis following the sacking of Rick Stone earlier in the season.

At the start of the 2020 Super League season, it was announced that Woolford would leave Huddersfield at the end of the campaign, but he then resigned in September following a string of poor results.
