Sky Sports pundits think Saints star could be dropped after he could have cost them the game

After last night’s clash between St Helens and Huddersfield Giants, Jon Wells picked out St Helens centre Konrad Hurrell as his game breaker on Sky Sports.

He did note that it was controversial because of some of his defensive misreads but for Wells the good outweighed the bad with his running game proving very effective.

However, Kevin Brown said that in his opinion Hurrell could have lost the Champions what was a very tight game.

He said: “He could have lost them the game without the ball. That’s the key thing, there are two sides to every game.

“Tonight he has valued something that Paul Wellens doesn’t value as high as effort and defence.”

Then Brian Carney asked Phil Clarke if he felt Hurrell would get in the side when Mark Percival and Will Hopoate are fit.

Clarke said: “Probably not, they would have him on the subs bench because sometimes you need a game breaker. He doesn’t just do it with the fans but on the pitch.

“That would be the possibility of having him in the 17.”

That said, in the World Club Challenge all three were fit and all three started with Hopoate preferred on the wing to Jon Bennison and new signing Tee Ritson with Hurrell and Percival the centres.
