Sky Sports pundits slam missed forward pass

Warrington Wolves have been battling valiantly against St Helens tonight.

Warrington started brilliantly sending some warning shots with two Matt Dufty breaks as well as a break from Matty Ashton over the left edge.

On the back of one of these breaks the Wolves got a penalty and took the two to take the lead.

That was cancelled out by Mark Percival. He was put into space by good play from Lewis Dodd and he carved through the edge defence of the Wolves striding out of Matty Russell’s effort to tackle him before wrong footing Matt Dufty to score.

However, the Wolves didn’t trail for too long with a lovely edge play putting Matty Ashton in at the corner as Konrad Hurrell and Will Hopoate were caught out.

But soon Saints would score a real champion try when an inside ball from Dodd allowed Jack Welsby to carve through and then support play from Jonny Lomax and James Bell so the latter cross but the Wolves fans weren’t pleased believing the ball inside was forward and so did Terry O’Connor.

“That ball is a mile forward,” he said on Sky Sports.

“Wow! Well the touch judge is in line with the incident.”

Meanwhile, former Warrington and Saints star Paul Sculthorpe agreed: “Yeah I think St Helens are very lucky there.”
