Jordan Abdull was sensational against Leeds Rhinos kicking them to death as Hull KR defeated them 20-12 on Friday night.
He is also well in the mix for the Man of Steel award with nine points set to become 12 when he inevitably picks up a further three points for his display against the Rhinos.
However, both Jon Wells and Jon Wilkin said they were impressed by the halfback and how his career matured saying that he previously didn’t take his career seriously.
Wells said:
“I don’t think he took his career seriously in the early part of it but he sees himself now as a starting partner to Mikey Lewis and with Lachlan Coote at the back, you can draw on that experience and if you can keep them fit and performances like that start to build belief.”
Wilkin added:
“I would have liked to have spoken to him maybe 10 years ago because I don’t think he took his career seriously, I think he was cruising.
“But professional sport at some point will smack you in the face and as a younger athlete he wasn’t able to stand up to that.
“But now he seems like he knows that he has to deliver quality week in week out and he has matured into a fabulous kicker and manipulator of defences.”
