Sky Sports pundit Jon Wilkin reveals ‘the best atmosphere in Super League’

Hull KR took on Huddersfield Giants at Craven Park yesterday in the Super League.

Thousands of Rovers fans continue to flock to the old stadium to watch their vibrant team under Tony Smith.

Alongside the product on the field, KR have been making superb moves off the field with the club’s creation of Craven Street which offers live entertainment such as music. Adding to the entertainment value is the inclusion of a big screen. On top of that there are also bars and local independent food vendors.

Rovers Chief Executive Paul Lakin has spoken about the importance of supporting local businesses with the creation of Craven Streat: “It’s really exciting to offer local Street food vendors the opportunity to showcase their offerings to our supporters. Our supporters are going to really enjoy the variety of different cuisines on game day.

“We invite them to come forward and apply to get involved. We know our supporters are going to love tasting all the flavours of the world that they’ll serve up each gameday.”

The creation of the new entertainment hub has gone down seriously well with Rovers fans as well as opposing supporters.

It has also been well noticed by a number of pundits who have recognised the attempts by the East Yorkshire club to improve their off-field product as well as the matchday experience.

One such pundit is former player Jon Wilkin who was commentating live on KR’s fixture against Huddersfield yesterday and he is suitably impressed.

“Hull KR have done a wonderful job here on match days,” Wilkin said.

“It is the best atmosphere in Super League.”

Few would disagree with that statement particularly when the Sky cameras are around.
