Sky Sports pundit Jon Wilkin not too impressed with Wigan Warriors

Wigan Warriors put Hull KR to the sword last night in a 46-4 thrashing live on Sky Sports.

However, though registering such a big score, Wigan were disjointed and head coach Matt Peet was animated at half-time in the dressing room following a poor end to the first-half.

The Warriors had led 20-0 in the early stages of the first-half before KR put pressure on Wigan to come back to 20-4 at the break.

Wigan ran out in the second forty minutes on a mission, but wayward passes and errors stunted the home side’s attack and Sky Sports pundit Jon Wilkin wasn’t too impressed with the Lancashire side.

“They haven’t been too good, they’ve not been ruthless and there’s been too many mistakes,” Wilkin said live on Sky Sports.

“They have come up against a youthful Hull KR side but they haven’t been at their best.”

Those sentiments were echoed by Wigan boss Matt Peet who felt his side could have done a lot more – particularly in that first-half.

“I wasn’t happy at half-time and after the lads spoke I said my piece,” Peet said.

“I thought we lost a bit of respect for the game. We went away for a bit from what we spoke about and I didn’t like that. I made the players aware of that and the players were aware of it and I asked them to commit to what they’d done all week and what we had worked on.

“They tried to play tig and pass and force the ball instead of earning the right. It’s not a habit we want to get into.”

Peet did, however, give bad news on hooker Sam Powell.

“Sam Powell said he will need a scan. We were going to look after him tonight and give Brad O’Neill more minutes but it shows how things turn out.

“He’s copped one there.”
