Warrington Wolves had a tough season in 2022.

The Wire finished second bottom in their lowest Super League finish in what transpired to be a transitional season for the Wolves.

They’re expected to do far better in 2023 with plenty of big name signings including Australian internationals Paul Vaughan and Josh McGuire.

However, after last season former Warrington Wolves player and Sky Sports pundit Brian Carney has questioned at what point could the pressure mount on the former Castleford Tigers boss.

“I like Daryl Powell, I think he’s a very able coach, but how many games can he go without winning?” he asked on Sky Sports.

Former St Helens star Jon Wilkin provided his answer believing that he could be under pressure after two or three gams:

“I think he has two or three or four or five. I’m saying, if he loses his first three games. He had a poor season, he’s now got what he wanted. I think if he lost four, five, six – we got to the Grand Final with Royce Simmons and he got sacked six games into the following season because we didn’t get any resulted.

“This is sport and it’s ruthless. Daryl Powell knows that, he’s not prepping to not go out and win the first three or four games.”
