Sky Sports’ Jenna Brooks reveals where outside interest in Castleford Tigers’ Jason Qareqare came from

Castleford Tigers’ Jason Qareqare is everything you would want in a young winger.

Full of vibrant enthusiasm, raw pace and natural ability, the flying winger has registered two incredible tries in two memorable games now for the West Yorkshire club.

Not only was he able to turn Hull FC’s Jake Connor inside and out in 2021, but Qareqare beat four men to run 80 metres inside the opening minutes against St Helens last weekend.

And, Castleford boss Lee Radford hailed his effort.

“It took some scoring, I thought he touched some grass down here with white paint but fortunately he didn’t,” Radford said.

“He will remember that for a long time, but he impressed me out of back field tonight, too.”

And, with Qareqare locked in for another two years at the Jungle after signing a new deal, the future is bright.

But, Jenna Brooks stated on Sky Sports following the game that “rugby union were after him,” making that deal all the more impressive.

Both pundits in the studio, Jon Wilkin and Sam Tomkins, were quick to praise Qareqare too.

“He’s great, he’s got all the things you need, the speed and the agility, the try he scored was incredible,” Wilkin said.

“He’s got a lot of learning to do too.”

Sam Tomkins also believes Qareqare has a lot of learning to do, but hailed his natural ability.

“Under the ball he’s got a lot to learn,” Tomkins said.

“But, he’s got things you cant coach though with speed and the natural knack of getting over the line – he’s got all the components there and the future looks bright for him.”
