Sky Sports choose next Super League games to be shown live

Super League can confirm the Sky Sports broadcast selections for Round 19 in July.

Friday night sees table-topping St Helens host Huddersfield Giants live on Sky Sports (8pm KO) followed by a return to Wheldon Road for Daryl Powell as his Warrington Wolves side take on Lee Radford’s Castleford Tigers (3pm KO).

Betfred Super League Round 19 fixtures in full:

Friday, 15 July

St Helens vs. Huddersfield Giants, 8pm (Sky Sports)

Wigan Warriors vs. Hull FC, 8pm

Saturday, 16 July

Castleford Tigers vs. Warrington Wolves, 3pm (Sky Sports)

Toulouse Olympique vs. Leeds Rhinos, 6pm (5pm UK)

Sunday, 17 July

Hull KR vs. Wakefield Trinity, 3pm

Salford Red Devils vs. Catalans Dragons, 3pm

Ever since the creation of Super League in 1996, Sky Sports has been the major broadcaster with a good deal often the product of a lot of hard work.

Ahead of this weekend’s Super League fixtures, only two games have been chosen to be covered by Sky with no Thursday game scheduled for some reason.

Castleford Tigers take on Huddersfield Giants on Friday night, with kick off at 8pm on Sky Sports Arena, whilst Catalans Dragons and St Helens will do battle in front of the TV cameras on Saturday evening.

That game will kick off at 5pm (GMT) with local French time at 6pm, but it has raised a question as to why there are only two live games this weekend?

Earlier in the season with Channel 4 in tow, at one point there were four televised games in one weekend.

Hull FC take on Leeds Rhinos on Saturday afternoon with a kick off at 3pm – Sky could well have shown a double-header and given more coverage this weekend especially with the football season finished until August.

Toulouse Olympique take on Hull KR on Saturday night, but with no French TV deal signed from the newly-promoted side, it won’t be shown on television.

There will be two games on Sunday afternoon with Wakefield Trinity hosting Wigan Warriors and Warrington Wolves taking on Salford Red Devils.
