Yesterday Warrington Wolves produced a gutsy display to defeat Catalans Dragons away from home.
It showed the new character in the Wolves side which has their fans dreaming of Old Trafford.
Speaking after the game though Sky Sports’ Phil Clarke said he felt the Wolves didn’t deserve to beat the Dragons:
“The team that wins the League Leaders’ Shield wins games where they don’t deserve to win and that was one of them, it doesn’t matter, it is just about who will be sitting at the top spot.
“Winning when not at your best, it was amazing because from what I saw they didn’t deserve to win.
“In fact they were a shadow of their normal selves from what I have seen this season when they have played in games I have watched.
“Their forwards were completely outplayed. Their forwards, all the big games, they were outplayed.”
However, in the eyes of seven time Grand Final winner with Leeds Rhinos Jamie Jones-Buchanan it was the kind of game that can get the Wolves ready for the big games at the end of the season:
“No they have been inoculated and tested themselves. When you get to the end of the season it is days like this that you bring back and you believe and trust in each other that you can deliver the goods.”
