Sir Kevin Sinfield has smashed past the fundraising target for the final 7 in 7 challenge, eclipsing the £777,777 target and even surpassing £1 million in donations.
It’s the seventh year in a row that Kevin Sinfield, who was made a Sir this summer, has taken part in an ultra-marathon challenge. In recognition of teammate Rob Burrow, for whom he began fundraising, the number seven has been a central theme to each event.
Seven ultra-marathons in seven days has become the standard event, highlighting the superhuman nature of Sir Kevin, and he’s now on the seventh of those seven challenges and yet again, Sinfield has helped raise over £1 million.
Each of the seven challenges has surpassed that mark despite the first one all the way back in 2020 only having a target of £77,777. This year’s target of £777,777 has been blitzed past, and so has the seven-figure mark, just six days into the challenge.
Sinfield’s former club Leeds Rhinos announced the news that fundraising had passed that milestone late on Thursday night after the 46-year-old had completed his fifth ultra-marathon.

Sir Kevin Sinfield set for final day of final 7 in 7 challenge
Day six will take Sinfield from Salford to St Helens before the seventh and final day on Saturday will see him depart St Helens and head to Old Trafford via the Halliwell Jones Stadium.
At Old Trafford, he will deliver the match ball for the Super League Grand Final – an event that he and the late great Rob Burrow, for whom all of this fundraising started, are very familiar with.
Burrow twice was crowned Man of the Match in the Super League Grand Final and ever since his sad passing in 2024, that award has been renamed as the Rob Burrow Award.
Sir Kevin Sinfield will be at Old Trafford to spectate the Grand Final and the confirmation of that award, with his own son Jack Sinfield among the favourites to be presented the trophy.
As always, Sinfield is raising funds for multiple MND charities – namely Motor Neurone Disease Association, Irish Motor Neurone Disease Association, My Name’5 Doddie Foundation, MND Scotland, Leeds Hospitals Charity and The Darby Rimmer MND Foundation – with the money raised going towards funding research, raising awareness, and aiding the quality of care and life for those living with MND.
