Singleton not guaranteed game time, insists Lam

Adrian Lam head coach of Wigan Warriors arrives at Emerald Headingley Stadium

Wigan Warriors head coach Adrian Lam has said new signing Brad Singleton is not guaranteed game time and has to earn his spot.

The Ireland international signed for the club from Toronto Wolfpack on a three-year deal last week, but Lam said it would be at least two or three weeks before he will be match fit.

He said: “Brad’s come in to train with us ahead of the deadline, which is on Friday.

“It was a chance for us to strengthen our squad, with COVID in mind. We also have some big games coming up over the next six weeks, so it was a win-win for us.

“He will take two or three weeks training to get him back up to speed, then we will make some decisions on him.

“He may not play this year. There are no guarantees of that, that was part of the original agreement. He is aware of that.

“We’ll take each week as it comes.”
