Sinfield breaks £1m after completing challenge

Leeds Rhinos legend Kevin Sinfield has raised over £1m for the Motor Neurone Disease Association after completing his Marathon Challenge.

Sinfield pledged to run seven marathons in seven days, and hoped to raise £77,777 for former teammate Rob Burrow, who was diagnosed with the disease last year.

At the time of writing, the amount donated has exceeded £1.4m, more than 1,800% of what he set out to achieve.

Sinfield described the last seven days as ‘probably the best week of my life’.

“The donations and support fuelled that last run,” Sinfield said.

“This was just six mates trying to raise a bit of money for Rob, we had no idea it would turn into this.

“At the start, we were worried we wouldn’t get 77 grand let alone what we’ve done. Thank you for all your support.”
