Shock Super League side could be set for immediate signing

There are a lot of transfer stories at the moment around Leeds Rhinos, Wigan Warriors, Warrington Wolves, Leigh Leopards, Hull FC and Hull KR.

Leeds signed Mickael Goudemand for the 2024 season and have been linked with former Huddersfield Giants Danny Levi and Tyrone Roberts for next year.

They have lost Sam Walters to Wigan Warriors next year who will also be bringing in Kruise Leeming from the NRL and Tiaki Chan. Chan won’t be the only Catalans player going to head to the DW Stadium with Adam Keighran coming too.

Warrington Wolves have signed Lachlan Fitzgibbon from Newcastle Knights for next year beating four rival clubs to his signature.

Hull KR meanwhile have signed Brad Schneider immediately and Hull FC have allowed Josh Griffin to join Wakefield Trinity.

But worryingly for their Super League rivals, Leigh Leopards are chasing yet more signings.

They have been linked with Owen Trout and Dan Norman and are still pursuing names.

When asked about recruitment, Adrian Lam said on the club’s YouTube channel: ” I will say we’re always open to communications to all managers.

“We do have a small squad and part of our philosophy here is to keep the window open for players coming.

“We’re working hard to make sure we improve our squad but those players haven’t been mentioned but I’m sure they will do in the near future.”

Going into 2023 they signed the likes of Gareth O’Brien, Tom Briscoe, Zak Hardaker, Ricky Leutele, Rob Mulhern and Ava Seumanufagai which has turned them into genuine title contenders.

Before that it was players like Caleb Aekins, Nene MacDonald and Josh Charnley which took them to Super League.

Don’t forget the arrival of Papua New Guinea superstars like Edwin Ipape and Lachlan Lam.

Both have been red hot in 2023 and have been linked with moves to the NRL.

They have turned Leigh into trophy contenders. But as they look for a strong end to the season, Adrian Lam has admitted the club could make an immediate signing before the August 4th deadline.

“It’s a possibility. There’s still three or four weeks to be able to do that.

“I think it’s an area most clubs look at to see how you stand financially and positionally. So there’s a chance that it may happen.

“We’ll keep our eyes open on that and make some decisions as they are needed as it approaches.”
