Shock result as Super League promotion hopefuls thrashed

Toulouse Olympique are one of the favourites for Super League promotion but did it tough last week against Widnes Vikings.

Then they lost Olly Ashall-Bott to an ACL injury and today they journeyed to Sheffield Eagles.

The Eagles occupied a spot in the top four going into the game and were left frustrated by a defeat to Bradford Bulls last week.

After kick-off had been delated it didn’t take long for Jesse Sene-Lefao to get things rolling for the Eagles powering over early on to open the scoring.

Then, as the game closed in on its second quarter, the Eagles crossed again through hooker Vila Halafihi diving over from dummy half.

Five minutes later Anthony Thackeray added the Eagles’ third try of the first half after good work from Kris Welham.

The tries kept coming and former Leeds Rhinos and Wakefield Trinity winger Ben Jones-Bishop was next on the scoresheet making it 22-0 before the half hour mark and by the break a Jason Bass try made it 26-0.

In the second half Toulouse Olympique stemmed the tide of tries somewhat and pulled one back through Matthieu Jussaume.

However, as the minutes ticked by an Eagles’ win looked inevitable and it certainly was when Oliver Roberts powered over for try number six making it 32-4.
