Shock as under fire boss is set to stay for another year

State of Origin is set to take place over 14 days in November.

Paul Green is set to stay on as Queensland boss for 2022.

That’s according to the NRL’s own website, which states that Queensland Rugby League chairman Bruce Hatcher is ready to trigger the option for another year.

And, that is despite the Maroons staring down the barrel of one of the worst State of Origin series defeats in the history of the concept.

“He’s in the middle of his contract and he’s still got another one [year] to go,” Hatcher said.

“I haven’t even thought that there would be any consideration [to a coaching change]. We’ll go through our normal process of a review.

“I think he’s a very decent guy, very experienced and at this stage I think we just lack experience. I won’t be saying that in a year’s time.”
