Sheffield Eagles release defiant statement ahead of Challenge Cup tie with Hull FC

Sheffield Eagles have released a statement ahead of their Challenge Cup Sixth Round tie with Hull FC next weekend.

Despite drawing Hull at home, the Olympic Legacy Park is not open yet, so the club has been scratching around trying to find a new host.

Sheffield stated that: “The club has faced a number of challenges in terms of where we play over the last few years but our new home is almost complete and we will move in in a matter of weeks.

“In the run up to the 23rd May we are doing everything we can to facilitate our home games against London Broncos and Newcastle Thunder. Further information on these will be available soon.

“We were fortunate to get a good draw against Hull FC in the sixth round of this year’s Betfred Challenge Cup. We have worked tirelessly this week to secure a venue to host the game including contacting all venues we have played at in recent season.

“Featherstone Rovers have been exceptionally accommodating in assisting us with this fixture and we are deeply indebted to them.

“Whilst we understand the frustrations which have appeared on Social Media, this is a short-term situation and we look forward to playing at the Community Stadium at the Olympic Legacy Park shortly.
