Sheffield Eagles chairman provides important stadium update

Sheffield Eagles chairman Mark Noble MBE has provided an important stadium update that could spell a decisive new era for the club.

The Eagles have been through the mire in recent years in terms of finding a home with the likes of Bramall Lane, the Don Valley Stadium, Owlerton Stadium and even Wakefield Trinity’s Belle Vue all housing the South Yorkshire side.

Noble released a New Year statement for fans: “At Sheffield Eagles we have much to be excited about in 2022 and beyond. Our eight-year nomadic existence will come to an end with the opening of the community stadium at the Olympic Legacy Park, which comes as both great relief but also a great opportunity.

“For the first time since the club was formed in 1984 we have the opportunity to sell and profit from food and beverage sales on a matchday and have the ability to commercialise secondary matchday sales like we have never able to before.

“Having a fixed home and security of tenure allows us to reconnect to the local community in Attercliffe, our home for so long at Don Valley Stadium, and to be able to re-engage the wider public in Sheffield too.”

The Eagles will head into another season with Mark Aston at the helm after being at the helm for 14 years so far.
