Sheffield bring back popular winger

Sheffield Eagles have re-signed popular winger Rob Worrincy from Dewsbury Rams.

The 34-year-old has made over 130 appearances for the Eagles in three previous spells at the club, which also saw him win National League 2 in 2006 and reach the Qualifiers in 2015.

The Leeds-born flyer has also had fruitful spells with Castleford, Halifax and, most recently, Dewsbury, with his try tally currently standing at 197.

“I have made friends for life here and it’s another opportunity to come and play some football with the Eagles and hopefully have a successful year,” he said. “Coming back here to Sheffield, with the aspirations they have, is something I couldn’t really pass on.

“I am coming to the twilight of my career but I still have something to offer and I feel here at the Eagles, it’s an opportunity for me to contribute to hopefully another successful season.

“I was thinking about putting the boots on the rack and giving it up but it came towards the back end of the season and I thought I can go again and that I have the capability to play at this level.

“The minute I heard Tubbs (Mark Aston) was interested, it was a no-brainer from then on.”
