Sheffield announce Keighley friendly

Sheffield Eagles have announced a friendly against League One side Keighley Cougars.

The match will take place on Sunday 26th January at Cougar Park, with kick off coming at 3pm.

The two sides have not played each other since 2014, where the Cougars won 29-16 at Owlerton Stadium.

Sheffield Eagles General Manager Liam Claffey told the club website: “We’re delighted to be heading back to Cougar Park as the final piece in our pre-season jigsaw ahead of the 2020 season.

“The upcoming campaign will be tough, there has been some fantastic recruitment right across the division so will help Mark & his team prepare as we look to make our way into the top 5 play-offs and defend the 1895 Cup.

“We’d like to thank Keighley for their support and assistance in helping arrange this fixture and we hope to see the Eagles faithful in force for our final fixture”

The match comes a week before the start of the Championship season, where Sheffield travel to Halifax. Whereas Keighley have an extra two weeks to prepare for their season opener at home to Hunslet.
