Shaun Wane drops hint on Sam Burgess and James Graham

Shaun Wane is set to lead England in their first World Cup under his tutelage at the end of this year.

Despite that, preparations have been hampered by the cancellation of training sessions as well as the issues surrounding Covid-19 halting progress over the past two years.

Wane, however, remains defiant and will take the lead of the national side against the Combined Nations All Stars for a mid-season fixture.

After that, the current Wigan Warriors man will head Down Under to check on English talent in the NRL such as Newcastle Knights’ Dom Young and Brisbane Broncos’ Herbie Farnworth.

Whilst he is in Australia, Wane will also meet with England legends Sam Burgess and James Graham – both of whom have been linked with coaching roles alongside the former Wigan head coach.

However, Wane remained when coy when asked if the duo would be taking part in the World Cup alongside him.

“I will be catching up with them – meeting up with Sammy (Burgess) and Jammer (James Graham) will be really important for me,” Wane said.

“I don’t know if they will be involved yet, but the only thing I am concerned about is my next training session with England.”
