Shaun Wane will again make a number of changes to his side this weekend as his England side look to make it three wins from three in the group stage as they prepare for a likely clash with Papua New Guinea in the quarter-finals at Wigan Warriors’ DW Stadium.
But before that they have a battle with Greece in Sheffield which will be Wane’s last chance to test his squad before must win games come their way.
He confirmed that Sam Tomkins would not play in order to ensure he was right and ready for those knockout stages.
This will see George Williams captain the side as he plays alongside Marc Sneyd in the halves with Jack Welsby at fullback in a hint of the future.
Speaking of the future of England’s team, one man who will surely figure in the English side for years to come will make his test debut this weekend.
Wigan Warriors youngster Kai Pearce-Paul who is expected to join Newcastle Knights in 2024, the versatile young man will feature in the side as Shaun Wane confirmed yesterday.
He will likely start at centre due to the absence of Kallum Watkins after a head knock against France last week.
However, expect him to move into the pack at some stage with Wane saying: “Kai will play and I want to see him play a few positions this weekend.”
Perhaps this is to ensure he gets the best look of every player in his squad as the knockout stages approach.
