Shaun Wane addresses who his England halfback pairing will be

There is a big question over whether who will play in the halves for England.

There was talk on Sky Sports that it could be a partnership of Warrington Wolves star George Williams and Wigan Warriors man Harry Smith as the two clashed last week in a top of the table clash.

Williams appears nailed on for the the number six shirt after being awarded the captaincy yesterday.

The likes of Phil Clarke backed Smith to be his partner but that would be very harsh on the in form Jordan Abdull as well as his Hull KR teammate Mikey Lewis.

Now Shaun Wane has addressed this speaking on the RFL YouTube channel.

Asked about Williams and Smith could start, he said: “They’re both playing really really well. Actually they all are with Jordan Abdull playing well and Mikey’s playing well.

“I can see it changing over the next week but I’ll be very confident with George and Harry. I’ve know George since he was a kid and to see him playing the way he’s playing now is outstanding.

“In the World Cup he was a pleasure to coach and with George you just need to take the shackles off him a bit and let him play. He’s done really good things from being eight or nine years old, so I just him carry on. Just let him play.

“That’s what we did and we saw the benefit from it and Warrington are doing that now and it’s proven lots of value for them.”
