Shaun Edwards offered London Wasps role

The Shaun Edwards saga has taken yet another turn with London Wasps director of rugby Dai Young confirming he has offered him a return to the club.

Despite verbally agreeing to join Wigan as head coach from 2020, Edwards was allowed more time to consider his options by Warriors’ chairman Ian Lenagan.

It comes after he played a key role in Wales’ Six Nations Grand Slam success asĀ defence coach, making the 52-year-old a sought-after commodity.

London-based Edwards has since been linked with numerous roles and he has spoken about the possibility of coaching England in the 15-man code.

This has upset many Wigan fans who feel Edwards has shown a lack of respect towards the club he play nearly 500 games for in a trophy-laden 15-year spell.

And now there is another interested party, London Wasps, with Young stating they want their former defence coach of 10 years back at the club for next season.

“Shaun would be fantastic for us,” Young toldĀ Rugby Pass.

“We have spoken to him and made our interest known in someone who is a big part of the club’s history, but I know we are one of a number of options he has.

“I do not know where we stand and we will be talking to him when he is back from holiday.”
