Seven first-team Leeds Rhinos players to play for reserves against Warrington Wolves

Leeds Rhinos take on Warrington Wolves tonight in a reserves fixture as both sides attempt to give game time to those who would otherwise be sat out.

Seven first-teamers from the Leeds side will play, with Jack Broadbent, Jack Sinfield, Muizz Mustapha, Corey Johnson, Tom Holroyd, Sam Walters

and Jarrod O’Connor all getting the nod.

Holroyd’s inclusion would perhaps raise some eyebrows given how he was earlier charged with a Grade F punching charge, but any ban will not come into effect until after next week’s tribunal leaving him free to play tonight.

Interestingly, Johnson has been chosen to play after recovering from injury.

Meanwhile, Holroyd could face a ten-match ban alongside former Wigan Warriors man Jake Shorrocks following an incident at the weekend.

Holroyd was playing for Bradford Bulls against Newcastle Thunder when the two men traded punches after what looked like an innocuous tackle.

Holroyd has been charged with Grade F punching whilst Shorrocks has been charged with Grade F striking and if both are found guilty at a tribunal next week, could face a minimum of eight games.

The Disciplinary Match Review, on Holroyd, stated: “Law 15.1 (a) Running In and Punching – Makes contact to the Head of the opponent Grade F.”

Following the latest round of Betfred Championship, Betfred League One, Betfred Women’s Super League, Reserves, Academy and Scholarship fixtures, the Match Review Panel have issued the following sanctions:

Tom Holroyd (Bradford) – Grade F Punching – Refer to Tribunal
Jake Shorrocks (Newcastle) – Grade F Striking – Refer to Tribunal
