Senior to lead World Record cycle attempt

Former great Britain international Keith Senior is leading an attempt by Rugby League Cares to break a world record.

Senior will be leading a team of 10 current and former players to undergo a 30-hour virtual spin class over Zoom and Zwift.  It is set to break World Record, which is currently 28 hours.

Senior will be joined by former teammates Chev Walker and Ewan Dowes. Also joining in are Wayne Godwin, Mick Cassidy, Paige Costello, Sam Smeaton, Garreth Carvell and Benji Lloyd.

Overall, 25 people will be taking part in the ride.

In addition, the team will also be raising funds for the MND Association. Rob Burrow, a former teammate of Senior’s, was diagnosed with the disease back in December.

Senior said: “I’ve taken part in a lot of challenges since I retired but this one is going to be the toughest yet.

“Spending 30 hours in the saddle apart from toilet breaks is completely unnatural and it will be a mental test as much as a physical one.

“As former players, we’re all acutely aware of what an important job RL Cares does in safeguarding the welfare of players and it’s good to be able to put something back.

“We’ll also be donating a percentage of what we raise to the MND Association, so it’s really important that people get behind us and donate.”
