Second ex-Halifax Panthers man finds new club after liquidation

Halifax Panthers

A second former Halifax Panthers player has signed terms elsewhere following the club’s liquidation earlier this week.

It was confirmed on Friday afternoon that half-back Jack Hansen had joined Rochdale Hornets after the Panthers were removed from the Championship and another player has now joined a West Yorkshire rival.

Charlie Graham spent one and a half seasons with Halifax but he has now joined Hunslet on a deal until the end of the Championship season.

The former Hull FC youngster joined the Panthers in June 2024 after spending three and a half years representing Keighley Cougars. He went on to make 40 appearances for the Panthers and score 25 tries and that tally includes the two tries he scored in his opening four run outs of 2026.

In total, he has touched down on 74 occasions in 114 games over the course of his career and he’ll be keen to build on that at the South Leeds Stadium.

Hunslet had been looking for a winger, of course, after Matty Dawson-Jones’ decision to call time on his career earlier this season.

“I am delighted to have secured the signing of Charlie,” head coach Kyle Trout said. “After the departure of Matty Jones, we needed to strengthen the outside backs, and when the opportunity came for us to bring Charlie to the South Leeds Stadium, we did all we could to make it happen.

“Charlie is a big athlete who is strong, fast and skilful. He’s a natural try scorer and a real handful out of back field.

“His try scoring record at this level speaks for itself, and I am looking forward to having him in our environment and seeing him out on the field.”

Graham added: “I am excited to be joining Hunslet. I’m ready to rip in and really looking forward to getting to know the players.

“I want to get my head down, work hard, and enjoy my rugby, and look to gain respect from the players and supporters through my performances.

“I aim to bring some additional strength to the team and hoping I can contribute to this season by scoring tries.”
