Huddersfield Giants’ Luke Yates will play no further part in the 2021 Super League season.
That’s according to his head coach Ian Watson, who confessed to journalists at the end of his side’s 40-28 victory over Hull KR last night that the former Salford Red Devils and London Broncos forward will play no further role in the season.
“He’s torn his pectoral, to be fair if you were going to do it you’d do at the back end of the season so he is right for next season rather than at the start of the year,” Watson said.
“It’s one of those things, we want Luke Yates to be playing week in week out for us.
“He was outstanding when he was on and he pushed through for an extra 20 minutes which helped us get back in the game ad gave us
“So, he’s essential for us and long term hopefully he is here with us.”
Yates has been linked with a move away from the John Smith’s Stadium with NRL clubs rumoured to be circling the powerful forward.
