Sean Long explains Featherstone Rovers latest star signing

Featherstone Rovers have secured the signature of highly rated Welsh winger Kyle Evans ahead of the 2023 Betfred Championship Season.

Evans, 32, shone for Wales at last year’s Rugby League World Cup following a successful spell with Super League side Wakefield Trinity.

The Welshman started in the fifteen-a-side code having played for Llanelli in the Welsh Premiership as well as Doncaster Knights in second tier of the English leagues.

Evans has shown a desire to remain in rugby league and Sean Long has been impressed with what he’s seen of the winger.

“Kyle is a very determined and tenacious rugby player, he has set his mind on playing rugby league and has impressed in a short space of time.” Said Rovers boss Long.

“He will add some depth to our backs and brings valuable experience as an athlete in the XV game.”

He joins a day after Featherstone began their preparations for 2023 with a New Year’s Eve win over Castleford Tigers.

They won 26-10 with Gareth Gale scoring twice and ex-Leeds Rhinos winger Luke Briscoe starting on the other wing.

These are the two who Evans will have to find a way into the side ahead.

The Rovers have developed a great squad for 2023.
