Scotland reveal their strongest 13 as Salford Red Devils star’s position confirmed alongside ex-Wigan Warriors outside back and St Helens forward

Earlier this morning Ireland confirmed their squad numbers for the World Cup and now Scotland have done so too as excitement builds for the tournament itself.

Scotland have a number of notable names within their 24 man squad including former Wigan, Warrington and Leigh winger Matty Russell who takes the number two jersey. Thus, it seems unlikely he will star at fullback like in previous tournaments.

The other winger is likely to be former Wigan target and Halifax flyer Lachlan Walmsley.

Meanwhile one of Salford’s play-off heroes, Ryan Brierley, takes the number seven shirt meaning he also won’t feature at fullback as he has done for Salford. The number one shirt instead goes to Lewis Clarke.

Speaking of Salford, Sam Luckley will wear 10 ahead of his move to Hull KR as Wakefield hooker Liam Hood takes the number nine shirt.

Hull KR’s star backrower Kane Linnett is number 12 whilst St Helens’ James Bell is number 13.

This makes for a very strong first choice 13 with plenty of Super League experience added to be Australian born second-row Euan Aitken who has represented Australia in the Prime Minister’s XIII before and brings a wealth of NRL experience.
