Samoa Deputy Prime Minister in tears as he spoke to squad after semi-final win

Samoa are set to play in a first ever Rugby League World Cup Final on Saturday.

They’re heading to Old Trafford and a battle against Australia in Manchester after they stunned England at the Emirates in the semi-final on Saturday with a Stephen Crichton drop goal breaking England hearts.

It’s easy to get swept up in the heart ache of England, but as England skipper Sam Tomkins said, “It’s brilliant” for the sport.

It’s an emotional time for Samoa as the small island makes history.

According to NRL.com Deputy Prime Minister of Samoa Tuala Tevaga Iosefo Ponifasio spoke to the squad after the game.

“You have bought a tear of joy to every Samoan back home in their heart,” he said to the squad, “You guys don’t realise what you have done. Maybe tonight or tomorrow it will sink it.

“Boys I just can’t convey enough how your nation feels. I am so proud of everyone here. I am proud of your coach.

“On behalf of your people, our people, our country, our nation and everyone who supported you today, I want to thank you. Congratulations Toa Samoa, you have done it.”

Now can Samoa take the final step and stun the Kangaroos, the holders of the World Cup trophy on Saturday?
