Catalans Dragons centre Samisoni Langi has signed a one-year contract extension with the club.
The Tonga international, 28, has put pen to paper on a contract extension that will secure his future at the Gilbert Brutus Stadium until the end of the 2022 season.
A former Australian schoolboy, he made his NRL debut in 2013 for the Sydney Roosters where he worked with Steve McNamara, assistant coach of the Roosters at that time.
He then joined the Super League with Leigh before signing for the Dragons where Langi quickly convinced the fans since he arrived at the Gilbert Brutus, winning the Player of the Year award in 2019 and being one of the key players in the squad over the last two seasons. He made 80 Super League appearances for the Dragons since his debut in 2018 and scored 18 tries.
On signing his extension, Samisoni Langi said: “My family and I are happy to be extending our stay for another year. I am proud to be able to represent this great region. It’s been our home for the last 4 years and I am happy to still call it that. This team is where I feel my journey truly began. One more dance to go, Come on Dracs!”
Steve McNamara, Catalans Dragons head coach added: “Samisoni has had a great season and we are happy to extend his deal. He puts his body on the line every single game doing lots of the tough work. He is a real team player.”
Langi had previously been linked with a move to Wakefield Trinity, with a deal already agreed until the 28-year-old pulled the plug following Chris Chester’s sacking.
