Lachlan Lam’s future at Leigh Leopards is the hottest topic in Super League right now with the question of where he will play in 2025 still unanswered.
Currently, Lam is contracted at Leigh Leopards until the end of the 2025 season but the specifics of a clause in his contract have led to speculation that he could leave the club for a rival Super League side.
It’s previously been reported by Jenna Brooks of Sky Sports that Hull FC had “got their man” in reference to Lachlan Lam, whilst his father and head coach Adrian has remained silent on the matter, as is club policy with all transfers.
New reports have emerged from Love Rugby League suggesting that Leigh Leopards have tabled a brand-new three-year deal to Lam in an attempt to remove all doubt and secure his future with the club.
They’ve labelled it as a “significant” deal and one that would eradicate any Super League speculation and likely just contain a standard NRL clause.
Lam’s future remains to be seen but one Sky Sports pundit has offered his opinion on the situation, arguing their belief that Lam will be going nowhere.
Sam Tomkins gives Leigh Leopards’ verdict
Despite coming back out of retirement to play for former club Catalans Dragons, Sam Tomkins has retained his role with Sky Sports as a pundit.
Speaking on Sky Sports’ coverage of St Helens against Salford Red Devils, Tomkins gave his opinion on the future of Lachlan Lam and whether he will remain a Leigh Leopards player.
“I think Derek Beaumont, the Leigh Leopards owner, will know exactly how valuable Lachlan Lam is to the side,” Tomkins explained.
“A lot of what goes well for Leigh goes through that man so I imagine Derek will be getting the chequebook out and making sure that he stays a Leopard.”
Leigh Leopards have already invested in their spine for 2025 with Newcastle Knights full-back David Armstrong signing a deal at the club. If they were able to keep Lam then they’d boast what would arguably be among the strongest spines in the Super League with Matt Moylan and Edwin Ipape also featuring.
