Sam Tomkins update

Sam Tomkins has returned to Catalans Dragons’ pre-season today after being given an extended break.

The fullback had played for England against France in an international test following the end of the 2021 Super League season alongside fellow Catalans Dragons stars Tom Davies and Mike McMeeken.

Now, though, he is gearing himself up for another tilt at the Super League Grand Final in 2022 with the French side after falling agonisingly short in 2021, with a narrow 12-10 defeat to St Helens ending a wonderful season on heartache.

Tomkins has been a revelation since making the move to the south of France, starring for the Dragons with 16 tries, 80 goals and one drop-goal in 49 appearances over a three-year period.

And, more impressively, the 32-year-old won the Man of Steel award last season for his performances.

The Dragons have recruited superbly well with NRL stars Tyrone May, Mitchell Pearce and Dylan Napa all making their way to Perpignan ahead of the 2022 season.

Those three signings add to an already star-studded squad as the likes of Tomkins, Sam Kasiano, Josh Drinkwater and Mike McMeeken all don the Dragons jersey.
