Sam Tomkins to miss Thursday’s game against unchanged Wigan Warriors

Wigan Warriors are set to host the unbeaten Catalans Dragons on Thursday night and Matt Peet has named his squad for the challenge.

Peet’s side are coming off two very successful games in which they’ve accumulated an aggregate win of 96-0, 60-0 vs Wakefield and 0-36 against Castleford, meaning they’re full of confidence.

The 21-man squad for the clash with Catalans has been announced via the team’s Twitter and website.

Given the impressive nature of the round three victory over Castleford it’s no surprise that Matt Peet has named an unchanged 21-man squad, something that will be incredibly valuable as the Warriors look to build consistency following their opening day loss to Hull KR.

The unnamed squad therefore features all the stars that we’ve come to see over the past 14 months of the Matt Peet era with Field and French at the back and new club captain Liam Farrell in the pack.

Liam Marshall will look to add to his incredible tally of eight tries in three matches as well when the Dragons visit the DW stadium.

Catalans are one of just two sides with a 100% record, alongside Warrington, and their three victories include a hugely impressive 38-6 victory over Hull FC.

Former Wigan man Sam Tomkins missed that game and he’ll once again miss out on Thursday night with Steve McNamara also naming his squad to travel to England.

Having made four changes last week the Dragons make two this week with young playmaker Cesar Rouge dropping out from the squad with injury.

The other absentee is former Wigan man Romain Navarrete who the Dragons acquired this season from Toulouse.

Loan Castano and Tanguy Zenon replace the injured pair but the likes of Mike McMeeken and Micky McIlorum remain healthy to travel to their home nation.

If Catalans are to get a shock win then they’ll need to break a 15 game losing streak against Wigan when the Dragons are on the road, their last victory over Wigan away from home coming way back in 2011.

That game saw both Tomkins and McIlorum playing for Wigan with both of them getting on the scoresheet in the 47-28 loss to the team from Perpignan.
