Sam Tomkins will not be playing for the Catalans Dragons against Hull KR tonight after revealing he just could not get his knee right in time.
It had been a case of ‘will he won’t he’ in terms of whether Tomkins would play at fullback in the semi-final crunch clash, but he did not take to the field tonight.
“I just couldn’t get it right unfortunately,” Tomkins said.
“I was desperate to play tonight, I did everything possible since the Wigan game to get it right.
“I tested it yesterday and it wasn’t quite there but we’ve got a very healthy squad so the decision was made to leave it tonight.”
Tomkins did, however, reveal that he would be fit for the Grand Final if the Dragons make it.
“I will be fit to play at Old Trafford, I would chop it off and put a wooden leg on if I had to!
“But, we’ve got a superstar with Arthur Mourgue to come in at the back.”
