Sam Burgess takes on bizarre new job in Asia

If you would have guessed one role that former NRL great Sam Burgess would be doing once his rugby league had ended, being a personal assistant would perhaps not have been on the list.

His friend and mentor Russell Crowe has been working on what’s thought to be the upcoming war flick The Greatest Beer Run Ever for Apple TV+, with Burgess waiting in the wings on set in Thailand.

“I’m overseas with Rusty working on a movie which is so random but it’s really cool,” the former Rabbitohs star told Nova’s Fitzy & Wippa.

“Russell’s got another movie over here, he finished one in Sydney so now I’m working with Rusty over here. I worked on the previous one in Sydney which was a bit of fun and we had a good time.”

Rather than being wanted to be described as a PA, Burgess claims to have been a ‘spiritual’ influence.

“I’ll make (Crowe’s) coffee in the morning. What I like to say is that I’m like this spiritual guidance on set. Always good energy around, keeping everyone on track,” Burgess said.
