Sam Burgess set for incredible career change

Sam Burgess looks ready to start his business empire after buying the Bayview Hotel at Woy Woy alongside brother Luke – with a hint that it could be the beginning of many such purchases.

Sam, who has recently been in Malta, has been in the limelight more than usual in the past few months, having been crowned victor of the SAS Australia reality TV show whilst his not guilty verdict for domestic violence was dropped by police.

But, he and brother Luke look destined for more millions with the expansion into his friend, Stu Laundy’s family business.

The former NRL players confirmed the news with The Sunday Telegraph, issuing a joint statement saying: “We are extending our longstanding friendship into a working relationship.

“We have a huge amount of respect for what the Laundy family have created and we’re both extremely excited to be working with the best in the business.”

Laundy told The Sunday Telegraph that the Burgesses can step into any establishment of theirs to buy.

“The option is open to Luke and Sam to buy into any pub they want with Dad and me, we are best mates,” he said.

“Both Sam and Luke are close friends of the Laundy family.”

So Sam and Luke are going to buy a pub. I can’t see either of them pulling pints behind the bar. Do you really expect them to make “millions” out of pub ownership? If it were that easy a lot of smarter people would have jumped in years ago.

COVID has wreaked havoc on the pub trade. Now that the restrictions in NSW are being rolled back, and summer is coming down-under, the patronage will pick up again, but there are plenty of ex-patrons who no longer have jobs. Buying a pub is not an automatic gateway to a fortune.
